Patrick Lavon Mahomes (born September 17, 1995) is an NFL quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes' son.
Mahomes was born in Tyler, Texas, on September 17, 1995. His father was MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes.He went to Whitehouse High School in Texas.[23] He played football, baseball, and basketball.
He had 4,619 passing yards, 50 touchdowns, 948 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns as a senior. His senior year no-hitter had 16 strikeouts.
Mahomes backed up Davis Webb as a freshman at Texas Tech.After Webb was injured, he played his first game against Oklahoma State.
Texas Tech started Mahomes as a sophomore quarterback. Mahomes' productive season helped the Red Raiders finish 7–6. He had ten games over 350 passing yards, four over 400.
Mahomes excelled as a junior. Mahomes threw 18 touchdowns to three interceptions and ran for four in September. In the Red Raiders' second game, he threw for 540 yards.
Most analysts and scouts projected Mahomes as a first- or second-round pick.[54] His 60 mph NFL Scouting Combine throws tied Logan Thomas and Bryan Bennett for the fastest.
On December 27, 2017, the Chiefs announced that Alex Smith would rest and Mahomes would start against the Denver Broncos in week 17.
