Weston James Earl McKennie (born August 28, 1998) is an American soccer midfielder for Leeds United, on loan from Juventus, and the United States national team.
McKennie is a versatile midfielder who plays mostly as a box-to-box or deep-lying defensive midfielder.
Hometown is Little Elm, Texas. From six to nine, McKennie lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where his father, a US Air Force officer, was stationed at Ramstein Air Base.
Before joining Schalke, McKennie played for FC Dallas' youth team from 2009 to 2016.
In May 2017, McKennie was promoted to Schalke's first team. He made his professional debut in a 1–1 draw with FC Ingolstadt 04 on May 20, 2017.
In the 2018–19 season, McKennie started 25 Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League games for the Bundesliga club.
McKennie continued to contribute to a team struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic under new manager David Wagner. McKennie scored three Bundesliga goals for Schalke in 28 appearances.
McKennie joined Juventus on a year-long loan on August 29, 2020.He became Juventus' first American and Serie A's fifth. The €4.5 million loan was for one year.
